What You Will Do
Advisory & Compliance
- Advise on corporate, commercial, regulatory and compliance matters
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements
- Advise on company formation, restructuring, governance and corporate secretarial matters
- Support M&A, due diligence and corporate recovery engagements
- Advise on AML/CFT, data protection, employment law and sector regulation
- Support tax-related legal matters and representations with the Tax Advisory team
- Design compliance frameworks, policies and training for clients
Commercial Courts & Dispute Resolution
- Conduct and manage litigation in the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court, from pre-action through trial and enforcement
- Prepare pleadings, applications, affidavits, witness statements and submissions under the Civil Procedure Rules
- Appear in chambers, at case management and interlocutory hearings, and at trial
- Act in contract, shareholder, banking, debt recovery, insurance and insolvency disputes
- Pursue urgent relief, including injunctions and freezing orders
- Work with forensic accounting and valuation specialists on financial evidence
- Represent clients in mediation and arbitration
Senior Attorneys will lead engagements and contentious matters, appear in the Court of Appeal where needed, and mentor junior attorneys.
Who We Are Looking For
Senior Attorney
- LL.B. and Certificate of Legal Education; admitted to practise in Jamaica
- At least 4 years’ post-qualification experience in corporate/commercial practice, including substantial commercial litigation and advocacy before the Supreme Court
Attorney (Associate)
- LL.B. and Certificate of Legal Education; admitted to practise in Jamaica
- 2–4 years’ post-qualification experience, including civil or commercial litigation and court appearances
Advantageous
- LL.M. or postgraduate study in corporate, commercial, tax or financial services law
- Compliance, mediation or arbitration credentials (e.g. CAMS, CIArb)
- Experience in insolvency proceedings or admission in other Caribbean jurisdictions
