Corporate Recovery

& Restructuring

Structured, practical support when a business is in difficulty — focused on preserving value.

Businesses get into difficulty for many reasons — lost customers, debt pressure, fraud, market shifts or simply years of underperformance. What matters is acting early, understanding the real position, and having a credible plan.

Dawgen Global advises troubled businesses, their owners, lenders and creditors on recovery and restructuring. We work to stabilise the situation, evaluate options honestly, and implement the route that preserves the most value — whether that is turnaround, restructuring, orderly wind-down or formal insolvency support.

The challenge

In the Caribbean’s smaller markets, business difficulties can escalate quickly: creditors are often banks with collateral, reputations travel fast, and options narrow as cash runs out. Many businesses delay getting advice because admitting the problem feels like failure — until a demand letter or missed payroll forces the issue and removes the better options.

Who it is for

  • Companies experiencing sustained losses or cash pressure
  • Businesses in breach of lending covenants or default
  • Banks and secured creditors with distressed borrowers
  • Groups with underperforming subsidiaries needing options analysis
  • Owners considering closure, sale or orderly wind-down

Signs you need us

  • Cash flow problems are recurring, not occasional
  • Suppliers are on stop or demanding cash terms
  • The bank has raised concerns, reduced facilities or appointed a monitor
  • Losses have consumed reserves and the path back is unclear
  • You are avoiding the conversations that need to happen

How it works in practice

Illustrative example. A regional distributor in covenant breach faced facility withdrawal by its bank. We conducted an independent business review for the lender, demonstrating that the core business was viable but over-leveraged. A restructuring followed: the bank re-amortised the facility, non-core assets were sold to reduce debt, and costs were reset. The company returned to covenant compliance within a year.

Frequently asked questions

Is it too late to restructure?
Rarely — but options narrow as time passes. An honest early assessment preserves far more choices than waiting until creditors force the issue.
Can you negotiate with our bank for us?
Yes. We regularly work with Caribbean banks on restructuring distressed facilities, and a credible independent review often changes the conversation.
Will a restructuring become public?
Consensual restructurings with lenders are private. Formal insolvency processes are public, which is one reason we explore consensual routes first.
We think the business may need to close. Can you help?
Yes. An orderly wind-down done properly preserves value, meets obligations and protects directors — far better than a forced collapse.
How are your fees set?
Our fees are tailored to each client, based on the scope and complexity of the work and the agreed deliverables, and are set out in your engagement letter.
